Family photos capture special moments in our lives. Whether it’s a holiday, a birthday, Christmas, a wedding, baptism or birth. Photos are a snapshot of a moment in life, but they also trigger reflection on all the experiences connected to that snapshot event.
This is the Roberts family photo taken outside of our new home in Pembroke. The photo captures a moment in time, one that we will forever look on with fondness. We have come here to join the fellowship at Westgate. We are here to encourage and build-up the church so that together we can go out to the whole town of Pembroke with the good news of Jesus Christ.
The news that the Son of God became a man, lived a perfect life, died on the cross at Calvary to pay the penalty for our sins and rose from the dead to live forevermore. Repentance and faith in the good news means a relationship with God our Father and eternal life with Him. This is the good news we have come to proclaim to the praise and glory of God so that all whom God will call, will come to worship the God of all glory through Jesus Christ our Lord.
You are all warmly invited to join with us and discover more as we meet at Westgate on Sundays and throughout the week.
July - August 2017
Welcome in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ
As we worship together over the next two months, and enjoy the warmth of the summer season, perhaps it could be a time to reflect on God's creation, and consider just how special our 'home' is.
Just think about it, about 20 miles below us is molten rock - far too hot! About 5 miles above us, we can't breath and its far too cold, we will die. This thin 25 mile layer on the Earth, is comparable to about a quarter of the thickness of the shell on a chicken's egg! Yet the Earth has the perfect range of temperatures that enable us to enjoy beautiful seasons and allow us to work, play and praise God. The earth is in a very special place in the solar system as well, called the “Goldilocks Zone”, it is neither too hot, nor too cold, it is just right, so that we can have liquid water! As far as we can tell, our solar system is in a part of space between the spiral arms of our milky way Galaxy, nice and quiet! All of this, and so much more, is no stroke of cosmic luck, it is the provision from an all powerful, loving heavenly father.
When I look at Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
the moon and the stars which You have established;
what is man that You are mindful of him,
and the son of man, that You visit him?
John 6:1 - 15
Reading the familiar passage about the feeding of the 5000 it reminds me that we all have a tremendous opportunity for growing and expanding God's ministry. The vehicle by which we can do this is called Christian Stewardship. By that I mean the way we invest and spend the resources God has placed in our care. From the reading it seems to me that there are three things that we must do when it comes to our Christian Stewardship.
GOD is so Gracious in answering our prayers
God has set aside a man to Pastor His Church here at Westgate.
"Westgate Evangelical Chapel will celebrate its 150th anniversary in June 2017. That’s 150 years for which the name of Jesus Christ has been proclaimed as Lord and Saviour at Westgate. It will be our privilege to join the fellowship following the call for me to Pastor the church. We look to the future with great hope that God will continue to shower his grace and mercy upon us as we declare the greatness of our God and Saviour!
At the present time I live in Bridgend with my wife (Suzanne) and two daughters (Anna and Emmy). In the last few years the Lord has laid on my heart a deep desire for the Word of God to be preached, and for people to hear the truth of the good news of Jesus Christ. Having lived and worked in Devon as a Town Planner for 10 years, we moved to Wales in 2014 to study in preparation for ministering to God’s people. I will complete the course of study in May 2017 and then, God willing, begin in the Pastorate at Westgate in summer 2017.
We are really excited about the future and looking forward to encouraging the people of God and the wider Pembroke community with the love of Jesus Christ. I encourage you all to discover Jesus for yourself. When you do, by the grace of God, you will see that it is not you who have been seeking him, but that Jesus has been seeking you for salvation. He is living and reigning and will one day return for all those who have put their trust in him. Jesus declared in John 11:25-26 “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
In the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ
